When you go to your closet to get your “Keep Calm and Carry On” shirt, do you think about the history behind the design? The original slogan was crafted in the late 1930s in Britain as it became evident that war would erupt around Europe. In an effort to boost morale in the kingdom, five million posters were made. However, the slogan was never used due to the negative feedback the government received. In 2000, the owner of Barter Books purchased potential stock at auction and found an original “Keep Calm” print, eventually releasing a modern version that is extremely popular today.
